Utrecht & Links
Utrecht is an interesting combination of being one of the major cities in The Netherlands, but also offering an old medieval city centre. Utrecht has all the facilities of a big city, including shopping, museums, art, music, film and offers extensive and varied cultural activities. Many activities and attractions are within walking distance of each other.
Utrecht (330.000 inhabitants) is located in the centre of The Netherlands and has an attraction to suit every taste or interest: a medieval town centre with the tallest church tower of The Netherlands (Domtoren, 112 m) and the Dom church (built 1254-1517).
Besides the many theatres and concert locations, museums such as Nijntje museum/Dick Bruna Huis, the Railway Museum, the Central museum, the Museum Speelklok and the State museum for religious art, there is wonderful shopping in the maze of cobbled streets and a extensive number of cafés and restaurants.
Next to the many (international) festivals, events, markets (the huge flower market and the big textile market) and interesting old churches (kerkenkijken.nl), there is shopping pleasure in huge range of shops.
Remember! Utrecht is number 6 of the list of ’10 of the World’s unsung places” in the Lonely Planet Guide.
