The merchant house was built in 1904 and is situated in a historic part of Utrecht city, overlooking a canal with its double drawbridge which is illuminated at night.
The house has high ceilings, large windows, original ceiling decorations and authentic doors; all of which add to the atmosphere.
The surroundings
The historic setting of the bnb Utrecht Between Mill & Mint saw tow barges pass on the Leidse Rijn canal carrying goods to Leiden and other Dutch cities for centuries.
The bnb Utrecht Between Mill & Mint is built on land which belonged to the lost oil mill The Peace (De Vrede). A very short walk away, guests can visit the wood saw mill The Star (De Ster) dating from 1739. Then, following the big coins set into the pavement, guests are led to the architecturally interesting Mint building where Dutch euros and other coins are still made.
